What is A Quiet Book?
A Quiet Book is a fabric book with activities designed to keep your little one quiet during a meeting, on a road trip, or any other time little hands and minds need a distraction. We try to keep ours away from the regular toys so it is a special treat when they get to play with it.
What is different about it from other books?
Well, your child gets really really quiet when she works on it and you don't have to get all suspicious about the silence for once.
What is My Quiet Book all about?
This darling cloth book offers hands-on experience in recognizing shapes, telling time, buttoning, buckling, snapping, lacing, distinguishing textures, and zipping. The soft BLUE book measures 8 inches and has a sturdy red zipper around three sides, with soft stuffed handles on top.
Three bright balloons and "My Quiet Book" are embroidered on the front. Inside are four stiff white fabric-covered pages featuring eight different activities. There are quilted shapes in primary colors with Velcro attachments, a clock with movable hands, pastel quilted flowers that button onto their stems, and bright quilted balloons that snap onto their strings. There's a buckle to thread on a pair of denim shorts, white laces to secure a red and yellow tennis shoe, bright squares of differently textured fabrics for touching, and a zipper to fasten a floral dress. Each page is lovingly finished and features a prominently placed embroidered skill title.
Will I end up going under the table many times to fetch the fallen pieces?
Not at all! All pieces are tethered to the book, so no fallen pieces to fetch under the table, and no missing items!
I can make my own My Quiet Book, right?
Of course! But if you are like me, who can't sew to save her life, this book is a pretty good investment to save from many futile attempts at sewing.

- My son was given this for his 1 year old birthday. He likes the colors and the velcro pages. Other pages he will like as he gets older and can do them.
- I bought this book for my almost 2 year old daughter hoping it would be a nice activity on a plane trip. It is well constructed and attractive (though I must say not as nice as the quiet book my mother sewed for me as a toddler).
The activities are:
Page 1: Shape matching, different colored shapes match to same shaped outlines with velcro attachments. The velcro spots are a little small and flimsy.
Page 2: Clock - the hands move freely, well constructed (my daughter isn't ready to learn the time but likes moving the arrows and talking about numbers)
Page 3: Buttoning flowers to same colored buttons (this is too hard for my daughter to accomplish but I have her tell me where to button it by matching colors)
Page 4: Tie the shoe - wish the string were a little longer which would make the task easier
Page 5: Zip up the dress - my little one likes zippers - wish it had the ability to zip completely open so she could practice matching up the ends of the zipper
Page 6: Buckle the pants buckle - this one is tricky!
Page 7: Snap balloons on to color matched strings - the plastic snaps take a decent amount of pressure to apply and are a little hard to accomplish
Page 8: 4 different texture and color swatches
Overall I think this book will last a long time and my daughter will be able to appreciate it more as she grows older.
- We purchased this as a request for one of our grandchildren. His mother now reports it is a new favorite and sought out each day before nap time and bedtime. The book is well constructed and just right for little hands to practice and learn skills towards independence.
- Just what I wanted, but did't have the time to sew myself! Love it! My granddaughter just loves playing with this wonderful book.
